INTERMEDIATE I
For
students who can express themselves in English and can communicate their
basic wants and needs as well as basic ideas. Their main problem is fluency
the lack of vocabulary and listening skills which are also poor. They are
often slow to speak and have to translate their ideas first before communicating
them. They are able to understand basic spoken English but soon get lost
when watching T.V. or when involved in a conversation. Their pronunciation
is also poor. In this course we concentrate on practicing the structures,
making the students speak and express their ideas. Often students at this
level have studied English for sometime before and have a good working knowledge
of the grammar stucture but have never had the opportunity to practice them
orally. Their fluency level is around 40% upon entry.
